May 30th, 2003 : Victoria sticks with Dolce & Gabbana :

Victoria Beckham hit headlines in New York last night by turning up to talk about her new contract with Rocawear on a radio show wearing a Dolce & Gabbana-emblazoned mini-dress. Onlookers were left to wonder whether Damon Dash, the rap mogul who has signed Victoria and Naomi Campbell to be the high profile faces of his street wear label, would have his nose put out of joint by Posh's loyalty to the Italian label. Victoria, however, whose husband David Beckham arrived at the interview looking far more rap-friendly in baggy, ripped jeans, a white T-shirt and a back-to-front baseball cap, will have to carefully balance her love for D&G with the way she treats the man who has promised to remix her next album and assist her journey to US superstardom by putting her on a billboard in Times Square with Campbell. Recently named British ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana, she is bound to be keeping a healthy dose of it in her famously huge wardrobe. "We want to become a bit more exclusive and not make clothes for every celebrity who asks," said Stefano Gabbana recently. "So we have picked one person from each country to work with and the British celebrity will be Victoria." The Beckham's US fashion status is going from strength to strength, meanwhile. Having first decided that the ex-Spice Girl had what it takes when she met her during the shows in February, Anna Wintour has clearly made Victoria her new style protégé. A welcome dinner thrown by the US Vogue editor last night had the Beckhams hobnobbing with the likes of Mario Testino, Diane Von Furstenberg, Iman, David Bowie, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein.

August 13th, 2003 : Vest of british as Victoria takes on US :

Posing provocatively in pants and high heels, this is Victoria Beckham's latest bid to conquer America.

Legs akimbo, fingers teasing tumbling locks and dressed in nothing but two clingy vests hitched above her thighs, it is Victoria's sexiest solo shot yet.

It is part of urban clothing label Rocawear's latest advertising campaign and Victoria, 29, clearly hopes the association will make her a star in the US.

Rocawear are better known for the tracksuits and bomber jackets associated with "gangsta rap" and the drug and violence culture that surrounds it.

They are owned by producer Damon Dash and rapper Jay-Z, boyfriend of Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles.

One insider said: "It's a pretty daring move for Rocawear, who usually use famous faces from the rap world wearing its classic lines of baggy street gear.

"It's a risk using Posh Spice because hardly anyone in America will know who she is."

Victoria has also teamed up with Dash for her new album after deciding to go for a rap feel rather than another pop and dance record.
